Reload Bulgaria Party not to Participate in March 26 Elections
Sofia, February 21 (BTA) - After the court granted his appeal against a refusal by the election authorities to register his Reload Bulgaria party for the March 26 general elections, journalist-turn-politician Nikolai Barekov announced that he had decided after all not to run in the race for Parliament.
Barekov got the initial registration refusal over legal considerations following the recent renaming of his Bulgaria without Censorship party to reload Bulgaria.
In a statement for the press Monday, Barekov wrote that he is not going to register any candidate tickets for the upcoming elections and gave a metaphorical explanation for his decision: "after all the trials and tribulations" he was put through, he came to find "a circus in which monkeys and lions were giving a performance" and he is "more of a wolf, maybe a lone wolf".
He also said he chose not be just another small party which saw politics as a business opportunity and accused other politicians of stealing his ideas.
Barekov currently sits in the European Parliament (EP) taking the only seat his party won in thje 2014 EP elections in a coalition with nationalists. He is part of the eurosceptic group of European Conservatives and Reformists.
