Bulgaria's Kristina Tsvetanova Wins EU's 2017 Rising Innovators Award

Brussels/Sofia, March 9 (BTA) - At an award ceremony in Brussels on International Women's Day, Commissioner Carlos Moedas and the European Parliament's Vice-President, Mairead McGuinness, announced the winners of the 2017 Horizon 2020-funded EU Prize for Women Innovators, the European Commission said.

The Rising Innovators Award went to Kristina Tsvetanova from Bulgaria, CEO and co-founder of the Austrian company, BLITAB Technology, which has produced BLITAB, the first tablet for blind users. The award was introduced this year to recognize excellence in female entrepreneurs aged 30 years or under. The prize is worth 20,000 euro.
