Justice Minister: "We Have Will for Irreversible Reforms"

Brussels, March 20 (BTA) - Justice Minister Maria Pavlova met with European Commission Deputy Secretary General Paraskevi Michou, the press centre of Pavlova's Ministry said.

"The caretaker government has the will and resolve to continue the process of reforms in an irreversible manner - not only because of the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism (CVM) but also because they are in the interest of the whole society," the Justice Minister is quoted as saying.

Pavlova was on a working visit to Brussels, where she presented the country progress in the fulfillment of the indicators for progress within the CVM. She assured her host that there has been full continuity between the previous and the incumbent government in respect with the judicial reform and voiced hope that this tendency will be continued by the future Cabinet, which will be formed after the March 26 elections.

The Justice Minister praised the partnership with the member states and the European Commission and the objective evaluation, contained in the reports.

Michou confirmed the progress in the fulfillment of the indicators and encouraged the country to continue with the reforms.

In Brussels, Pavlova also met with Bulgaria's Permanent Representative to the EU Dimiter Tsanchev. The two discussed the Justice Ministry's commitments in relation to the preparation of Bulgaria's Presidency of the EU Council in 2018.
