site.btaSotir Tsatsarov Resigns as Head of Counter-Corruption Commission

Sofia, January 13 (BTA) - The Couner-Corruption and Unlawfully Acquired Assets Forfeiture Commission (CCUAA) announced Thursday that its chairman, Sotir Tsatsarov, indents to tender his resignation next week before the competent Parliamentary Committee.

Tsatsarov, who served as the previous prosecutor general, will request his term to be terminated early, from March 1, as this is the date the report on the Commission's work is to be adopted by the legislature.

Before it transpired that Tsatsarov intends to come down, the competent committee - the parliamentary committee for prevention and countering corruption - decided to send questions to him regarding the work of his commission and possibly to hold a hearing of Tsatsarov himself at its next meeting.

During the committee meeting, MP Georgi Georgiev (There Is Such a People) read out questions he wants to ask the CCUAA chief. They were about the size of the property that has been forfeited by a court since 2013 based on claims by the CCUAA and what has been contributed to the public purse. More MPs said they have questions to Tsatsarov about the work of his commission. DT/LN///
