Blagoevgrad, Southwestern Bulgaria, April 1 (BTA) - Speaking to reporters at a party event here, GERB floor leader Tsvetan Tsvetanov said that "the position of the government regarding Russian diplomats is with an open possibility for change". Tsvetanov said that for him, more important is the fact that Parliament "did not allow the option for issuing a statement as moved by the [opposition] Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) which makes express conclusions of not expelling Russian diplomats from Bulgaria". Tsvetanov said that Parliament could come up with a joint statement "but it should correspond to the decision of the Council of the European Union".

Following Friday's meeting of the Security Council with the government, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said Bulgaria's reaction to Russia over the Skripal case will be limited to recalling its ambassador from Moscow for consultations.

Tsvetanov repeated his position he voiced on Friday in Parliament that "the BSP is pursuing an anti-European policy". He said that the entire European democratic community is not against the people of Russia "but what is being done in Russia now is inadmissible to exist in the 21st century".
