Bulgarian Janos Valcsev received the National Minority Award at a ceremony held at the Bulgarian Cultural Insitute in Budapest, the Bulgarian Republican Self-Government in Budapest said on Facebook. The prize is awarded for activities in the field of culture of nationalities in Hungary. A total of 13 people received the award at the event in the Hungarian capital.

Valcsev has been an active member of the Bulgarian Republican self-government since 1998. He is the chairperson of the Bulgarian Self-Government in Miskolc for many years, as well.

The Bulgarian Republican Self-Government acts in close cooperation with the Society of Bulgarians in Hungary, which is the largest Bulgarian civic organization in Hungary. The self-government organizes cultural events, visits of Bulgarian cultural figures to Hungary, and supports the main Bulgarian organizations, cultural formations and artists in Hungary.
