Greece's Miltiadis Tentoglou defended his Olympic long jump title at the Paris Games on Tuesday with a result of 8.48 m. This makes Tentoglou, who is coached by Bulgarian former athlete Georgi Pomashki only the second man to successfully defend an Olympic long jump title, after Carl Lewis.
Pomashki has been Tentoglou's mentor since 2017, and under his coaching, the Greek athlete has won 11 gold medals from major tournaments: two from Olympics, one from the World Outdoor Championships and two more indoors, as well as three each from the European Indoor and Outdoor Championships.
Tentoglou was joined at the podium in Paris by Jamaica's Wayne Pinnock with a result of 8.36 and Italy's Mattia Furlani with 8.34 m.
