Minister of Youth and Sports Ivan Peshev, who opened the shooting tournament Grand Prix Sofia 2025 here in Arena 8888 on Friday, said in his opening speech that the country has a rich history in shooting sports.

Peshev added: "I am sure that each of the participants in today's tournament has gone through a long and difficult path of preparation. Today you all have the opportunity to show the fruits of your labour and fight for the medals your efforts deserve."

The Women's 10 metre air pistol event in the first day of the tournament was won by the Olympic silver medallist Antoaneta Kostadinova from Bulgaria. Silver went to, Adiel Ilieva, another Bulgarian, while the Greek shooter Eftychia Michelaki won bronze.

Georgios Gampierakis from Greece won the Men's 10 metre air pistol event. He was followed by Bulgarian Boris Tuzlukov, while another Greek, Panagiotis Karagianellos earned bronze.

The competition ends on Sunday.
