Greco-Roman wrestler Kiril Milov (97kg) and freestyle wrestler Ahmed Bataev (97kg) were awarded the Golden Belts named after Nikola Petrov and Dan Kolov at the Dan Kolov - Nikola Petrov International Wrestling Tournament which ended in Varna on Sunday. This marks Milov’s second time winning the Nikola Petrov Golden Belt, having previously claimed it in 2022.
Bilyana Dudova, a world and 4-time European champion, was named the Best Bulgarian Women Wrestler after securing first place in the 65 kg category.
As is tradition, the tournament also recognized top foreign wrestlers: Zahid Valencia (USA) in the 86 kg freestyle category, Mohammad Ashiri (Iran) in the 60 kg Greco-Roman competition, and Lydia Tourino (Spain) in the -62 kg category.
On the last day of the competition, the Bulgarian athletes won a total of nine medals.
Georgi Ivanov, last year's winner of the Dan Kolov Golden Belt, placed second in the 125kg freestyle category after a 2-13 loss to Mason Parris, an Olympics participant and two-time Pan-American champion.
Nedyalko Petrov (60kg) and Abu Muslim Amaev (67kg) secured silver medals in the Greco-Roman events. 2021 European Cadets Wrestling Championships medallist Borislav Kirilov (60kg) and Nikalas Sulev (67kg), both competing in the Greco-Roman events, and freestyle wrestler Mert Slavov (97kg) took bronze medals.
