Grigor Dimitrov advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2024 Rolex Paris Masters, a hardcourt tennis event of the ATP Masters 1000 tour, with a purse of EUR 6.5 million. On Thursday night, the No. 8 seed Bulgarian, who reached the final last season, scored a dramatic 6-2 4-6 7-6(5) win over France's Arthur Rinderknech, who had received a wild card.
That was the third victory of 33-year-old Dimitrov in a total of three matches played against Rinderknech throughout their careers. Their current world rankings are No. 9 and No. 60, respectively.
In the quarterfinals, Dimitrov will face Karen Khachanov, who won the Paris Masters in 2018. On Thursday, the Russian defeated Alexei Popyrin of Australia 7-6(5) 6-4.
So far in his career, Dimitrov has claimed four wins in as many matches against 28-year-old Khachanov, currently ranked 21st in the world.
