Bulgarians Mihaela Stefanova, Victoria Velislavova and Raya Yagova won the gold medal in the team épée event at the Girls’ Fencing World Cup in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. This is Bulgaria’s first ever world cup podium in fencing.

Stefanova, Velislavova and Yagova, No. 2 seed in the competition, began their participation in the second elimination round by knocking out Kazakhstan’s team 45:24. Thus, the Bulgarians progressed to the final, in which they defeated Turkey 45:42 to triumph with the gold.
