Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) MP Venko Sabrutev described the current government as harmful to the country and argued that the sooner it leaves office, the better, speaking to journalists on Wednesday.

He was responding to recent events after GERB leader Boyko Borissov informed the GERB-UDF parliamentary group on Tuesday that the party would stop assisting in securing a quorum in Parliament and instructed its MPs to return to their constituencies. Borissov also criticized the current National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova, saying that she's only seeking publicity.

On Tuesday, the government press service announced that Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov was cancelling the scheduled Council of Ministers meeting set for Wednesday.

Sabrutev, addressing a question about potential cabinet changes, said that the mafia is reorganizing. He noted that statistics indicate a record rise in state debt, while the population is experiencing increasing poverty.

He identified Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova, Interior Minister Daniel Mitov, and Labour and Social Policy Minister Borislav Gutsanov as detrimental to the country.

When asked about appointing a new Chair of the National Assembly, Sabrutev described the current National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova as highly detrimental, claiming that she consistently aligns with Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) Chair and MRF – New Beginning Leader Delyan Peevski, which is why Borissov seeks her removal.

CC-DB MP Yavor Bozhankov advised his GERB colleagues that actions have consequences. He noted that for decades GERB depended on local election practices such as vote-buying and pressuring local authorities, and now they are unexpectedly witnessing these tactics from an outsider's perspective.

Bozhankov noted that those in authority must understand they cannot keep deceiving Bulgarians about governance and leadership, as this is evident to all and was underscored by the vote in Pazardzhik. He believes the purpose of the parliamentary maneuvers is to formalize a reality that has existed since the beginning of the current term.

CC-DB MP Vasil Pandov claimed that in Pazardzhik the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) – New Beginning bought the election and Borissov was forced to react, alleging that GERB and Borissov are only putting on a show. He said he was not convinced by the developments and could not yet judge whether this is a collapse of the governing majority, noting that it remained to be seen.

Pandov noted that a working group on remuneration for doctors and nurses was scheduled for Thursday, but he was uncertain whether it would proceed. He added that a request to form an ad hoc healthcare committee remains unresolved. Pandov alleged that the Ministry of Finance is withholding data and obstructing progress toward fair compensation for healthcare professionals. He argued that with the 2026 budget deadline approaching, the government is acting counter to the interests of the public.
