Lokomotiv Novosibirsk has extended the contract of Bulgarian volleyball coach Plamen Konstantinov for two more seasons, the website ivolleymagazine.it reported. Thus Konstantinov, who until recently combined his work in Russia with the post of selector of the men's national volleyball team of Bulgaria, will lead the Russian club team until the end of the 2025/26 season.

He arrived in Novosibirsk in 2016 and won with Lokomotiv a full set of medals at the Russian championships: gold (2020), silver (2022) and three bronze (2017, 2021, 2023). The 50-year-old specialist recently recorded his 300th match at the helm of Lokomotiv.

As a coach, Konstantinov has considerable experience in the Russian championship, where he has worked with some interruptions since 2011. Then he was appointed at the helm of Gazprom (Surgut), after which he was in charge of Gubernia (Nizhny Novgorod) for two seasons. His period in Novosibirsk began at a time when he was halfway through his first period as a national selector.

Konstantinov was a national selector in 2023, but his contract expired and was not renewed by the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation.
