Bulgaria's Svetla Otsetova has been awarded for exceptional contribution to world rowing by the World Rowing Federation (FISA). FISA notes the contributions of the Bulgarian rower, who has been involved in this sport for over 55 years and has set the standards in the design of rowing canals used in the biggest and most prestigious competitions, including world championships and cups, Olympics, and Paralympics in the last 40 years.

Otsetova competed twice in Olympic Games, winning the gold in double sculls with Zdravka Yordanova in Montreal 1976. She also snagged the gold in that discipline in the 1978 World Rowing Championships in Karapiro, New Zealand.

Otsetova began working at FISA in 1979 as a member of its Technology Commission, and she has been technical director of the headquarters since 1998. One of her main responsibilities is to inspect the candidate host countries for the biggest rowing competitions.

Otsetova headed the Bulgarian Rowing Federation twice, the last time being in 2012.

In 2011, she was presented with the Order of the Balkan Range, First Class, for exceptionally big contributions to Bulgaria in physical education and sport.
