Diana Petkova qualified for the semi-finals of the women's 100m breaststroke at the 2023 European Short Course Swimming Championships in Otopeni. The Bulgarian athlete finished in 1:05.63 minutes, which is a new national record. Petkova made a very strong swim and knocked nearly two seconds off her previous best of 1:07.40 from four years ago in Sofia.
Diana Petkova, who has been studying and training in the USA for the last few years, will swim in the first semi-final on Tuesday evening.
The other Bulgarian representative in the discipline, debutant at a major forum Thea Nikolova, was 29th in the heats with 1:08.45 minutes.
The fastest in the series was Estonia's Eneli Jefimova with 1:04.28 minutes.
