Yanko Iliev continues to the semi-finals of the IBA Junior World Boxing Championships Yerevan 2023 after another solid win on the ring. Thus, Bulgaria already has two medalists at the championships.

The Bulgarian left no chance to Soban Rehman (Pakistan) in the 52 kg category. Iliev received a convincing 5:0 judges' vote (30:26, 29:28, 29:27, 29:28, 30:26), dominating the whole match. Under the guidance of Olympic champions Petar Lesov and Stoyka Krasteva, the national team demonstrated strong superiority and proceeds to the semi-finals fully deserved, guaranteeing themselves at least a bronze medal.

On Friday, Iliev will face the representative of the hosts Aren Haratyan for a place in the final.

His victory on Thursday made Iliev the second Bulgarian to win a medal at the championships, after Angel Dimitrov who will also compete in the 50kg semi-final on Friday.
