Famous Bulgarian football coach Ferario Spasov died in a car accident on the main road connecting Sofia and Varna, near the village of Sheremetya (Veliko Tarnovo Region), on Saturday, the Bulgarian Football Union Regional Council in Veliko Tarnovo told BTA.

Spasov, head coach of Dunav (Lom), a team competing in the Northwest Third League, was returning to his home in Lovech after a match of his team in Gorna Oryahovitsa. He was driving his car when another car drove at high speed into the oncoming traffic lane and hit Spasov's car.

Ferario Spasov was born on February 21, 1962. He is a football legend in Lovech. As a football player he had more than 350 games for the local team Osam (Lovech). He also played in Spartak (Pleven). As a head coach of Litex (Lovech), he won the Bulgarian championship in 1999. He also won the Bulgarian Cup in 2001. In his career he has also been head coach of CSKA (Sofia), Botev (Plovdiv), Beroe (Stara Zagova), Bulgaria’s junior national team, Spartak (Varna), Montana, among others.
