site.btaItalian Tennis Player Muzetti Happy to Play in ATP 250 Sofia Open, Says Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov Is Inspiration

Lorenzo Musetti, who is in Bulgaria to participate in the ATP 250 Sofia Open as top-seed, Tuesday congratulated Bulgarian top tennis player Grigor Dimitrov on the excellent season. "He played well, he showed good form, particularly in the last months. Grigor is an exceptional person and tennis player, who inspires me and our entire generation of younger players," the 21-year-old Musetti commented at a news conference.

This is Musetti's third visit to Sofia, the last one being in 2022 when he played in the Sofia Open semifinals. "It is nice to be back in Sofia. I am happy to be here and be able to play. When I learned that the tournament has been moved from Tel Aviv to Sofia, I did not hesitate much whether to come. I feel good here. The conditions in the previous years were excellent. The organizers have once again done a huge job to make the tournament happen and in such a short time, for which they deserve congratulations," Musetti commented.

He hopes to perform better at Sofia Open 2023, which will help him finish the current campaign positively and begin the next with higher self-esteem. "I want to play in the last week of the season because my results lately have not been good. That is why I hope to do everything possible in Sofia to upgrade compared to last year so that I can finish the season with positive emotions," he said.

In June, Musetti achieved a personal record by reaching 15th place the world rankings, but has since climbed to 27th place.
