Bulgarian Minister of Youth and Sports Dimitar Iliev held a meeting with French Ambassador Joël Meyer. The Paris 2024 Summer Olympics and Paralympics were at the center of the meeting, Iliev's Ministry reported Monday.

Ambassador Meyer briefed Minister Iliev on the challenges that France faces in preparing for the upcoming games. He said that both forums are highly significant for his country, and will seek to highlight the social and unifying role of sport.

Minister Iliev expressed confidence that France will do an excellent job hosting the biggest sports forums and stressed that the equality between Olympic and Paralympic athletes is of particular importance to his Ministry. In this regard, a change was made to the Ministry's ordinance which provides for equality of the one-off prize money given to Paralympic and Olympic medal winners.

Minister Iliev and Ambassador Meyer expressed readiness for future cooperation in the field of sport, Bulgaria's participation in the Olympics, and youth activities.
