Swimmer Antani Ivanov Fails
to Advance to 200 m Butterfly Semifinals
Tokyo, July 26 (BTA) - Bulgarian swimmer Antani Ivanov failed to advance to the semifinals at the men's 200 m butterfly, his signature stroke, at the Tokyo Olympics. He finished sixth in Heat 3 by clocking 1:56.36 minutes, placing 20th in the final standings.
A first-time Olympian, Ivanov aspired to reach the butterfly finals but performed considerably below his potential and dropped out already at the heat stage. His result was nearly 2 seconds worse than the national record which he holds: 1:54.50 minutes. LN/NV/VE
