“I intend to do what most people voted for,“ GERB leader Boyko Borissov told journalists in Parliament on Thursday in response to a question on whether he would seek support for the government. “We got you into Schengen, we will get you into the eurozone. If the people want elections, then will have elections,” Borissov said.
Approached about the possibility of relying on thematic majorities in parliament, Borissov answered in the positive and added that it was not by chance that he thanked Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) for not joining the no-confidence vote. “You cannot declare support for the euro area and European development and work together with Vazrazhdane, MECh and Velichie,” Borissov said.
He commented that June 4 was an important date for the convergence report for the euro area. He also said that Eurostat had indicated that Bulgaria met the inflation criteria. “Nothing can divert us from the path to the euro area,” he said.
