Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov submitted to the National Assembly a request to strip Democracy, Rights and Freedoms MP Mario Rangelov of immunity, Parliament Chair Nataliya Kiselova reported in Parliament on Thursday morning. This is the third time such a request has been submitted after two previous requests from December 2024 and from early April 2025 were denied.

The prosecution alleges that Rangelov established and led a group for the purpose of crimes against the political rights of citizens, that he paid BGN 15,000 in order to induce voters to exercise their right to vote in favour of a particular coalition in the parliamentary elections on October 27, 2024.
