site.btaMaritsa East 2 Sells 470 Times More Electricity on Free Market in January 2025 Y/Y

The Thermal Power Plant (TPP) Maritsa East 2 EAD has sold 470 times more electricity on the free market in January 2025 compared to the same month in 2024, the plant's press centre said.

The volumes sold on the platforms of the Independent Bulgarian Electricity Exchange (IBEX) for the first 31 days of this year were nearly 300,000 MWh compared to 635.5 MWh a year earlier, the press centre said.

In order to guarantee lighting and heat for the population, the plant provided Bulgarian households with 464,267 MWh of electricity in the first month of the year, which is an increase of nearly 200,000 MWh compared to January 2024. The plant produced nearly 890,000 MWh of electricity in January. 

Since the beginning of the year, the company has been working with all its eight power units and is fully available to ensure the security and stability of the country's electricity system, the press centre added.
