site.bta Vazrazhdane MP Ganev: Constitutional Court Tramplеs on What It Should Be Protecting as Supreme Authority

Tsoncho Ganev MP of Vazrazhdane told reporters here on Friday that the Constitutional Court has trampled on what it should be protecting as a supreme authority: the Constitution. He was referring to Thursday's ruling outlawing the election of 16 MPs and giving the Velichie [Grandeur] party 10 MP seats. Ganev went on to say that the new majority, led by MRF - New Beginning Floor Leader Delyan Peevski, limited the rights of MPs as legislators during Thursday's sitting of the parliamentary Budget and Finance Committee. "Lawlessness is no longer the exception: it is the norm," Ganev added.
In Ganev's words, the Committee sitting showed that the Government stays in power only thanks to Peevski. "We have a National Assembly that continues to trample on the country's legislation," the MP of Vazrazhdane said, referring to the draft amendments to the 2025 State Budget Bill tabled by his parliamentary group ahead of the second reading. According to Ganev, it transpired during the sitting that the MPs do not have the right to legislative initiative, because their proposals would be grouped in a way the Committee wants and would not be voted on one by one. "Lawlessness is the norm. Nothing good awaits the State," he commented.
Vazrazhdane tabled nearly 38,000 amendments to the 2025 State Budget Bill between first and second reading.
