Tourism Minister Miroslav Borshosh and Consumer Protection Commission (CPC) President Maria Filipova discussed key issues related to the joint activities of the two institutions, including the classification of tourist sites and the identified violations in the hotel and restaurant sector, the Ministry of Tourism said here Tuesday.
Among the main topics of the discussion were ways to improve control in the sector, as well as the effective application of sanctions in case of irregularities.
They also discussed regulations related to the activities of tour operators and travel agents, stressing the need for legislative changes to the Tourism Act and the Consumer Protection Act. The Tourism Minister stressed that his aim is to ensure a more transparent and fair environment for all in the tourism sector, ensuring that consumers receive quality services and adequate protection of their rights. "We are actively working with the Consumer Protection Commission to improve the control mechanisms and increase the confidence in Bulgarian tourism," Minister Borshosh further said.
The Ministry and the CPC will work together to analyse the results of the winter tourist season and coordinate preparations for the upcoming summer season. The main goal is to ensure higher quality of tourist services and stricter control over the implementation of regulatory requirements.
