Lyubomir Karimanski took the oath of office on Tuesday as member of the Governing Council of the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB).
The ceremony was attended by President Rumen Radev and Vice President Iliana Iotova.
At the beginning of October, the head of State issued a decree appointing Lyubomir Antonov Karimanski as member of the Governing Council of the Bulgarian National Bank, effective December 2.
He replaces Lyudmila Elkova, the current member of the BNB Governing Council from the president's quota, whose six-year term expired on December 2.
The Governing Council is the BNB's governing body, which consists of seven members: the governor; three sub-governors, who head the main departments (Issuance, Banking and Banking Supervision); and three other members, according to the BNB's website. The Governor and the three Deputy Governors are elected by the National Assembly and the other three members are appointed by the President.
The term of office of the members of the Governing Council is six years.
Lyubomir Karimanski is a former MP from There Is Such a People.
