State Fund Agriculture (SFA) Executive Director Iva Ivanova took part in the 56th Conference of Directors of EU Paying Agencies, which took place on October 16-18 in Budapest, Hungary.

During the conference, the Bulgarian delegation actively contributed to the discussions, especially regarding the annual reporting and certification of Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) expenditure.  The Bulgarian side gave a presentation and provided an in-depth analysis of the current challenges and ways to improve accountability and transparency in expenditure management. During the discussions, Bulgaria stood out for its leading role in the implementation of reporting and monitoring processes at European level.

The representatives from the Bulgarian side put emphasis on the need to introduce new technologies and approaches for managing EU funds in agriculture, thus encouraging the exchange of good practices and cooperation between the other Member States.

"This conference was an important forum for sharing experiences and promoting transparency and efficiency in the implementation of the Common Agricultural Policy. Our participation strengthened Bulgaria's position as a reliable partner in the management and control of the policy funds," Ivanova said.

The Directors of the Paying Agencies were presented with the results of the latest audit by the European Court of Auditors, as well as presentations by the European Commission on new developments in the CAP and a presentation of analyses by the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF). Particular attention was paid to technological innovations, including the role of geo-tagged images and mobile applications in the work of paying agencies, which create new opportunities for more effective control and monitoring.
