site.btaFarmers to Get BGN 200 Mln in State Aid Oct. 10
On Thursday, farmers will receive the funds amounting to BGN 200 million under the state aid schemes to support the liquidity of farmers, producers of cereals and oilseeds to overcome the negative economic impact of Russian aggression against Ukraine, caretaker Minister of Agriculture and Food Georgi Tahov said Wednesday at a meeting with representatives of the industry. He stressed that there is a decision of the State Fund for Agriculture to pay the amount and a notification has been sent to the European Commission for the entire amount of BGN 325 million.
Tahov said he and Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Lyudmila Petkova would meet with representatives of stakeholders on Thursday. In connection with the adverse weather phenomena that have had a negative impact on agricultural production, the EU crisis reserve has been activated at Bulgaria's request and for the first time the affected farmers in Bulgaria will have the opportunity to benefit from this mechanism.
