Caretaker Tourism  Minister Evtim Miloshev  opened the 2024 Cultural Tourism international exhibition in Veliko Tarnovo on Tuesday. The exhibition is held for the 19th time in a row and 10 countries and 30 Bulgarian municipalities will be represented in this edition.

Miloshev said that Veliko Tarnovo has the status of historical and spiritual capital of Bulgaria for a reason. He noted that the city had both  nature and history and in a not-so-distant day  will face overtourism like some other great world destinations. "I personally lived in your city for almost three months and saw what the tourist flow and the interest in the cultural and civilizational development of a city, of a country with an 8,000-year civilizational history means," Miloshev said.

Before the opening of the international exhibition, the Caretaker Tourism  Minister told  journalists that in terms of cultural tourism, the country still has a lot to do. He pointed out that the tourist industry in Bulgaria traditionally expects an even better winter season than the previous ones, but noted that there are some concerns over the reduced reduced tax rate for tourism, which is currently 20% for legislative reasons.

Moloshev also said that  Bulgaria's large ski resorts are ready for the season, with some minor domestic problems. A tourist flow is expected mainly from neighbouring countries and traditionally from Great Britain.
