Bulgaria's trade with Kazakhstan in 2023 will grow by nearly 18% and reach USD 103.5 million. This became clear during a meeting between caretaker Minister of Economy and Industry Petko Nikolov and Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Bulgaria Viktor Temirbayev, the press centre of the ministry reported on Friday.

The two officials discussed opportunities for expanding economic cooperation and strengthening trade ties between the countries. Minister Nikolov stressed that it is very important to conduct more initiatives between the trade organizations of the two countries in order to more actively assist businesses in launching joint projects.

The upcoming meeting of the Bulgarian-Kazakh intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation was also discussed as an important instrument for promoting trade, economic and investment ties between the two countries.

Another topic of the talks was the development of transport corridors between Europe and Asia, highlighting the strategic location of the two countries.

Kazakhstan is interested in deepening cooperation with Bulgaria in the energy sector between Bulgarian and Kazakh companies, as well as in the information technology and agriculture sectors. "We are actively working to create more partnerships between Bulgarian companies and foreign businesses, because this is a prerequisite for increasing trade and wider representation of foreign companies in our country," Minister Nikolov said.
