Traffic of heavy trucks exceeding 20 tons will be restricted from 1 pm to 9 pm starting Wednesday on roads in the regions of Ruse, Razgrad, Silistra, Targovishte, Shumen, Veliko Tarnovo and Lovech, due to temperatures expected to exceed 35C, the Road Infrastructure Agency's press service said here on Tuesday.

The suspension of heavy vehicles traffic on specific sections of the national road network during the afternoon aims to minimize the risk of road surface deformation and protect the lives and health of commuters.

Trucks will pull off to designated locations off the side of the road to avoid obstructing other road users when their traffic restriction come into effect. The restriction does not apply to motor vehicles transporting perishable foods, temperature-controlled cargo, live animals, and hazardous goods.
