Wage Growth Picks Up in Bulgaria in Q2 - Official Statistics

The average wage in Bulgaria in the second quarter of 2024 grew faster than this time last year, the National Statistical Institute said Monday. 

The average monthly wage was BGN 2,296 in Q2 and was up by 17.3% from this time last year. The increase was biggest in the following sectors: Government (29.7%), Other Activities (26.6%), Hotels and Restaurants, and Education (25.4%).

Compared to the first quarter of 2024, the average wage grew by 4.5%, the biggest increase being in Government (13.1%), Education (9.7%), Hotels and Restaurants (9.2%).

The average gross monthly wage 2024 was 2,303 in April, BGN 2,310 in May and BGN 2,276 in June. 

The number of employed persons at the end of June was 28,100 (1.2%) more than at the end of March, reaching 2.35 million people.
