The revenue from overnight stays in Bulgaria in June surpasses the revenue in the same month of the good year for Bulgarian tourism - 2019, in terms of number of overnight stays the data is almost equal, but in terms of occupancy there is still a retreat, according to a reference on the website of the National Statistical Institute (NSI).

The revenue from overnight stays in June 2024 increased by 18% compared to the same month of the previous year and reached BGN 270.5 million, with BGN 186.8 million coming from foreigners and BGN 83.7 million from Bulgarians. Overnight revenue in June 2019 was BGN 205.4 million, or 2.6% more than in June 2018. An increase of 17.9% was registered in revenues from Bulgarian citizens, while those from foreign citizens decreased by 0.5%.

In June 2024, total bed occupancy was 38.8%, up 2 percentage points from a year earlier. Bed occupancy is highest in 4- and 5-star accommodation, at 50.1%, followed by 3-star, at 33.7%, and 1- and 2-star, at 21.2%. Total occupancy in June 2019 was 45.4%, a decrease of 2.3 percentage points compared to June 2018. Bed occupancy was highest in 4- and 5-star hotels at 56.8%, followed by 3-star accommodation at 46.2% and 1- and 2-star accommodation at 26.3%. 

The number of overnight stays in June this year increased by 6% compared to the same month in 2023 and reached 1 million, with an increase of both Bulgarian citizens - by 8.3%, and foreigners - by 3.8%. The number of overnight stays of Bulgarian citizens was 513,100 and they spent on average 2.4 nights. The foreign citizens were 520,800 with an average of 4.4 nights, 76.1% of them stayed in 4- and 5-star accommodation.

The NSI report for June 2019 shows that the number of overnight stays increased by 4% compared to the same month of 2018 and reached 1,028,800, with an increase of 4.9% for Bulgarian citizens and 3.5% for foreigners. Bulgarian citizens staying in accommodation in June 2019 were 408,200 and had an average of 2.4 nights. Foreign nationals were 620,600 and had an average of 4.9 nights, with 65.9% of them staying in 4- and 5-star hotels.
