Under the European Youth Guarantee and through the measures of the Operational Programme "Human Resources Development" (OPHRD) for the period 2014-2020, 115,000 young people, including young Bulgarians with disabilities, have received support for inclusion in employment through training, mentoring at the workplace, internships, and subsidised employment. This group of citizens has also been assisted to start their own businesses. This is stated in information on a representative page of the Programme on Facebook. The announcement is in connection with International Youth Day, August 12.

Some 15,000 young people are to be activated and included in the labour market with the Youth Employment + measure. There will also be an opportunity for young people from vulnerable groups to undertake traineeships in EU member states and subsequent employment in Bulgaria with the ALMA Youth Initiative. There is also an opportunity to increase general digital skills under the "Digital Skills" measure of the OPHRD, including training and certification of digital skills under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, the post reads.

International Youth Day has been observed since 2000 to encourage dialogue between youth from different cultures and intergenerational dialogue. The Day's motto in 2024 is "From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development”.
