Bulgarian business expects Parliament to form a cabinet with broad support including the opposition parties, said Bulgarian Industrial Association (BIA) President Dobri Mitrev in a BTA interview. He was asked to comment on the GERB-UDF invitation to the parties entering the 50th National Assembly to Government-forming negotiations.

Mitrev pointed out that even an expert cabinet must have the parliamentary support to deliver the political stability Bulgarians expect. In Mitrev’s words, it is not so important whether the cabinet will consist of experts or persons nominated by the political parties themselves. It is important to draw up a plan and follow policies and solve the problems of both the business and the people, the BIA head added.

For Bulgarian business, it is important that politicians concur on several important goals, such as the accession to the euro area, joining Schengen by land and working for the country to be admitted to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development in the next two years.

In addition to the international goals, the business is looking forward to solutions to a number of problems that have remained open for years. Among these are the administrative and regulatory burden, the issues in health care, the energy market, the mismatch between the labour market and the education system.

Another problem is related to the multiple regulations, which hinder economic operators and do not help the competitiveness of Bulgarian enterprises, Mitrev said. In fact, these problems have accumulated over the years and none of the previous parliaments found a solution to them, the BIA chairman added.
