The State of Defence 2024 report and the report on the implementation of the Defence Investment Programme until 2032 have already been submitted to the National Assembly, Defence Minister Atanas Zapryanov said Tuesday at the opening of a round table on enhancing national resilience, which took place at the Military Academy in Sofia.

Zapryanov said that the State of Defence 2024 report contains accurate assessments of the achievements and the guidelines on which the ministry will continue to work this year.

He added that a meeting with representatives of the Finance Ministry, Economy Ministry, Innovation Ministry and other experts will be held Tuesday at the Ministry of Defence. They will discuss the implementation of the European initiative for the rearmament of Europe and the measures Bulgaria should take to prepare itself to meet the tasks of using investments to rearm the army, modernize industry and train personnel.

Zapryanov noted that the Caucasus crisis and the war in Ukraine have shown that the sustainability of the State and its normal functioning cannot be achieved by individual efforts of the ministries, but united Government efforts are necessary.

The event is attended by representatives of NATO, various ministries, academia and the private sector. US Embassy in Bulgaria's Chargé d'Affaires ad interim Susan Falatko is a guest speaker at the roundtable.
