New management has been appointed at LB Bulgaricum, Bulgaria's only state-owned dairy company. The Board of Directors, which has already been registered in the Commercial Register, includes Zhivko Zhivkov, Nadya Stefanova and Spasin Kraychev, the Economy and Industry Ministry said in a press release here on Tuesday.

At its meeting, the newly-appointed board elected Zhivkov as LB Bulgaricum Director General.

In end-May, caretaker Economy and Industry Minsiter Petko Nikolov requested from the State Consolidation Company (principal of LB Bulgaricum) to replace urgently the company’s previous management and appoint a new one, the Ministry recalled. The demand for resignations came after the Minister held a meeting with trade union representatives and protesting LB Bulgaricum employees, during which a number of problems accumulated over time were highlighted. The issues included disruption of dialogue between workers and management, demands for an increase in basic wages, for the provision of specialised workwear, for compliance with working conditions, and reports of a large backlog of finished products that risk not being marketed.
