Outgoing Bulgarian Tourism Minister Zaritsa Dinkova conferred with Volker Adams, Head of Governmental Affairs at DRV - the German Tourism Association, Dinkova's Ministry said in a press release on Thursday. The meeting apparently took place at the ITB Berlin Travel Trade Show (March 5-7), even though the Ministry did not specify the location and date.
"Among other things, Bulgaria can offer security to tourists. Bulgaria is one of the safest destinations in Europe. This is what all our partners should know," Dinkova said during the working meeting.
Adams highlighted the great interest of German tourists to Bulgarian spa and wellness services. "However, we also believe in the potential of family holidays. We need to be aware that it is becoming more and more expensive for families to holiday in the southwest of the continent, so you have an excellent opportunity to occupy this niche," he addressed Dinkova.
Dinkova stressed that Bulgaria is doing its best to ensure an ever better ecosystem and sustainable environment for tourism. "You are obviously doing well, and the growing number of early bookings is proof of that. Tourists organize city-type visits on their own online, but that is not the case when they organize their family holidays. Then they use a tour operator and that is what presents a great opportunity for Bulgarian tourism," Adams said in turn, adding that there are some 10,000 tour operators in Germany.
