The “Power Sector Decarbonization Studies” analysis received the AmCham’s 2022 Project of the Year award, part of AmChampion Awards 2022.

This wide-ranging analysis includes three scenarios and policy recommendations that facilitate the power sector transition through an appropriate investment framework. The report has two scenarios, the August-September 2022 one building on the first one from January 2022 and providing adequate decarbonization proposals tailored to installed technologies, without favoring known technologies and taking into account the energy transition requirements of the European Union, the press release says/

Statues with the logo of the Chamber and certificates were awarded by Ivan Mihaylov, CEO, to Quinto Di Ferdinando, Director of Thermal Power Plants of “ContourGlobal” and Ivan Tsankov, CEO, AES Bulgaria – representatives of the leading companies of the project.

In 2022 AmCham worked on another significant project that was nominated for Project of the Year. This is the United for Ukraine Initiative, a partnership between the U.S. Embassy in Bulgaria, the America for Bulgaria Foundation, and Nu Boyana Film Studio. It sought jobs and housing for Ukrainian citizens who had fled Russia’s war in Ukraine.

The ceremony took place during a Thanksgiving Charity Dinner at the Sofia Event Centre on Tuesday before nearly 300 guests.

The idea for the AmChampion awards dates back to 2019 and is now part of the benefits for ATC members.

The awards recognize the most active and engaged AmCham members of the previous year.
