If the Nikolay Denkov cabinet is voted in office Tuesday, it will have a draft budget ready with 3% deficit within two weeks, Finance Minister-designate Assen Vassilev told reporters here Tuesday. "If the government is voted today, we will start with with the ministries tomorrow, will pull out the current state budget and we will hopefully have within the next ten days or two weeks a draft budget with a 3% deficit," he said.

Asked where they would get resources to lower the deficit: in the expenditure or in the revenue side, he said it would be a combination of both. "As we step in the [Finance] Ministry, we will look at the details and I guess we will have a more detailed picture within a week."

Vassilev answered in the affirmative when he was asked by reporters whether he still believes that Bulgaria's entry in the eurozone from 2025 is a realistic scenario.
