site.bta11th Edition of Orpheus Talents International Competition in Plovdiv Attracts More than 4,000 Entrants
More than 4,000 singers, musicians, dancers and artists from seven countries will participate in the 11th edition of the Orpheus Talents International Competition for music, dance and fine arts at the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts in Plovdiv. The organizers are the Academy and the Bulgarian National Youth Folklore Union.
The competition is organized by students of the Plovdiv-based Academy, the key figure behind the event being Asst Prof Nikolay Gurbanov, conductor of the world-renowned Academic Folk Choir of the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts and Chairman of the Bulgarian National Youth Folklore Union.
On February 7 and 8, the Academy will host artists from all administrative regions of Bulgaria, as well as participants from all music and specialized art schools, numerous chitalishta (community centres) and centres for professional and personal development. This year, there will be international participants from Serbia, Romania, North Macedonia, Turkiye, the UK, and China.
The jury, chaired by Assoc Prof Jean Pehlivanov, consists of 31 distinguished experts from Bulgaria and around the world, who will evaluate the 4,000 entrants.
The Culture Ministry will give 36 annual scholarships and as many one-time grants. Over 800 other prizes will go to talented participants.
