The animation Mufasa: The Lion King by director Barry Jenkins topped the Bulgarian weekly box office after its first weekend in theatres, show aggregated data from the cinemas in the country published on Tuesday. The American musical drama film has been watched by 34,231 people with a total ticket revenue of BGN 479,022.

A total of 77,878 moviegoers visited the movie theaters last weekend, with nearly half opting for the new Mufasa story, which premiered on Friday.

Here's the rest of top 10 for the last week:

2. Bulgarian comedy Pochivkata (Bai Ivan III) by writer and director Dimitar Kiryazov. It has been in theatres for the last three weeks, accumulating a total of BGN 1,251,050 in ticket revenue. In this period, it was watched in Bulgarian cinemas by 100,729 people.

3. David G. Derrick Jr.'s animation Moana 2. In its first month in Bulgarian theatres, it was watched by 81,646 people and accumulated BGN 1,075,083 in ticket sales. 

4. Bulgarian film Gundi: Legend of Love by director Dimitar Dimitrov has been played in theatres for the last two months and a half. In this period it was seen by 690,316 people and accumulated a total of BGN 9,098,364 in ticket revenue.

5. Ridley Scott's Gladiator II ranks fifth this week and has been played in theatres for month and a half. It was seen by 147,959 people and accumulated BGN 2,098,398 in Bulgaria.

6. Bulgarian comedy Chicken Factory by director Isidor Karadimov premierred on Friday and was seen by 3,176 people during the weekend with ticket revenues of BGN 42,673. 

7. Marvel's Kravel: The Hunter by director J. C. Chandor has been in theatres for 10 days, attracting 13,372 viewers with ticket revenues of BGN 186,528.

8. Bulgarian bippic Wingless by director Niky Iliev has been in theatres for three weeks with 18,135 viewers and BGN 222,641 in ticket sales.

9. Jon M. Chu's musical Wicked ranked ninth in its fifth week in Bulgarian cinemas. Since its premiere, it attracted 34,371 people to the theatres with ticket revenue of BGN 479,178. 

10. The comedy Code Red by director Jake Kasdan has been screened for almost two months attracting 39,806 viewers and accumulating BGN 479,178 in ticket sales.
