On the eve of the opening of the new academic year, the Sofia University Library is presenting an exhibition on the occasion of the 170th birth anniversary Konstantin Jirecek (1854 – 1918), a Vienna-born Czech historian, Slavic scholar, bibliographer, honorary member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and author of the first scientific summary of Bulgarian history. It can be viewed in the lobby of the niversity Library until the end of October 2024, the press centre of the University said.

Jirecek's works are presented thematically and cover the fields of Bulgarian literature, teaching, geographical works and historical writings. Visitors can see Konstantin Jirecek's correspondence with Bulgarian scientists, politicians, university professors.
