Paintings by Rumen Rachev will be on display at the Rakursi Gallery in Sofia between January 28 and February 15, the organizers said. The exhibition, titled Frameless, presents the artist's paintings of the last few years.

Rachev's expressive works are full of energy and colour vibrations, the gallery said. The artist reportedly commented: "My new exhibition is called Frameless, not because I do not put my paintings in frames. Frameless is about experiences, emotions, human relationships, the inner and outer worlds of people, everything that exists on the big stage of life."

Rumen Rachev was born in Belovo, Southern Bulgaria in 1956. He graduated from the National Academy of Art in Sofia in 1982. He has held more than 60 solo exhibitions in Europe and the United States and has contributed to many group exhibitions. In 1989, he settled in Bremen, Germany, where he lived and worked for 20 years. He displayed his works in prestigious galleries during that period. Works by Rachev are owned by the National Art Gallery in Sofia, the Sofia City Art Gallery, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Print Collection of the New York Public Library, the Mint Museum in Charlotte, North Carolina, the Buffalo Museum of Art, the New Orleans Museum of Art and many other public and private collectors.

Rachev works in the field of painting, drawing, art prints, illustration and design.
