A total of 400 foreign students who have received temporary protection status in Bulgaria will study in Bulgarian state universities in the new 2024\2025 academic year. The Council of Ministers approved the number of students at its weekly meeting on Friday.

The students will be admitted in the first year of full-time studies in 44 programmes in 25 higher education institutions in the country. They will receive a scholarship, dormitories and will pay fees according to the procedure for Bulgarian students. This will also allow students with temporary protection who have completed their secondary education in Bulgaria to continue their studies at Bulgarian universities.

Their education will be conducted in Bulgarian. During their first year at the university, they will undergo specialized language training organized by the university departments.
