site.btaGala Concert in Sofia to Mark End of Raina Kabaivanska's 24th International Master Class

A gala concert will mark the end of the 24th International Master Class of world-famous opera singer Raina Kabaivanska in Sofia. The event will take place at the Sofia Opera and Ballet on October 2, the New Bulgarian University (NBU) said Wednesday. This year, Kabaivanska selected 14 young opera singers from five countries: Bulgaria, Georgia, Italy, Romania, and South Korea.

The event is part of the Year of Kabaivanska, a series of events in honour of the great opera singer and is part of the Sofia Municipality's cultural events calendar for 2024.

At the winners' event this year, Kabaivanska will again award selected young performers scholarships to study with her in Italy. Since its inception in 2002, the Raina Kabaivanska Fund has awarded more than 100 scholarships to young opera singers from five continents.

On the day of the gala concert, a photo exhibition "My Awakeners" dedicated to Kabaivanska will be opened in the Sofia Opera's lobby.
