site.btaNine Countries to Participate in International Festival of Historical Reeneactments at Tsarevets Fortress

Reenactors from nine countries will take part in the Medieval Tarnovgrad International Festival of Historical Reenactments at Tsarevets Fortress here on June 7-9, the organizers said. The 9th edition of the festival is mottoed "Fairy Tales and Legends" and will have nearly 200 participants reenact dramatic and romantic moments from the time of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom.

Among the participants are Romanian groups Brown Bear - Bucharest, Black Dragon - Brasov, and Truverii, the Greek group Protospartarii from Athens, and Serbian group White Eagles from Belgrade. For the first time, there will be freelance reenactors from Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Russia, UK, and Germany. Some of them live in Bulgaria and will reenact the daily life of their peoples from the Middle Ages, the organizers said.

The festival programme also includes demonstrations of medieval crafts, fashion, and cuisine, archery, battle tournaments, and puppet theatre plays about royal fairy tales and myths.

The Medieval Tarnovgrad International Festival is organized by the Tarnovtsi Association, Veliko Tarnovo Municipality, and the Regional History Museum.
