Between February 8 and 29, Sofia's Little Bird Place Gallery will host an exhibition of Swedish-born Sebastian Quick and Bulgarian-born Antoaneta Quick titled EQUILIBRIUM, the organizers said.

The display - the first full collaboration of the former couple and a current artist duo, explores equilibrium in nature, equilibrium within the human being in a state of inner balance, and equilibrium as a harmony between human and nature at a point where we humans are causing this equilibrium to crumble.

EQUILIBRIUM presents a curious mix of media and techniques that have taken the shape of whimsical objects, collages, assemblages, installations, drawings and photographs created in close collaboration between the two artists. "Sebastian and Antoaneta breathe new life into abandoned antiques, found animal and natural elements and discarded organic materials by restoring, reclaiming, reconstructing and reimagining them. They aspire to create a resource- and consumption-conscious art that aims to impact people instead of impacting the environment. By injecting everyday objects with elements of absurdity, in addition to a curious appearance, the artists lend them an extraordinary meaning so that the natural could be seen as supernatural," the gallery said.

Sebastian and Antoaneta's deep connection to the living world, combined with their affinity for surrealism and story-telling approach, helped create this eclectic and surprisingly cohesive artistic unity. Against the background of abstract images stand out concrete reflections on the complexity of human nature and the invisible sacred thread uniting the human experience.

Born in Sofia, Antoaneta Quick is a visual, musical and performance artist and art manager and curator at the Little Bird Place Gallery.

A native of Malmo, visual artist and tattooist Sebastian Quick describes his style as surrealist symbolism.
