site.btaGerman Director Margarethe von Trotta to Receive Sofia Award at Sofia Film Fest in March

German director, actress and screenwriter Margarethe von Trotta will receive the Sofia Award of the Sofia Municipality. It will be presented to her during the 28th Sofia Film Fest (SFF), Art Fest reported.

SFF will be held in Sofia March 13-31.

In Sofia, von Trotta will be a special guest at SFF and will present her latest film, Ingeborg Bachmann - Journey Into the Desert. It is dedicated to the relationship between writers Ingeborg Bachmann and Max Frisch. The work was nominated for the Golden Bear Award at the Berlinale (2023).

Margarethe von Trotta has been considered a leading figure of the New German Cinema movement and is recognized as one of the most important feminist filmmakers in the world.
