A special programme will be presented at the Cinema House in Sofia on January 13 to mark the 109th anniversary of the first Bulgarian film screening, the Bulgarian National Film Centre (NFC) reported.

"We have selected films that were undoubtedly recognized at the Golden Rose feature film festival and the Golden Rhyton festival for documentary and animation cinema in 2023," the NFC said.

The selection includes the animation film Trace (2023 Golden Rhyton Award), the short film Silent in the Snow (2023 Golden Rose Short Film Award), and the documentary Cinema Extremists (Bulgarian National Film Archive Award at the 2023 Golden Rhyton Festival).

Art cinemas such as Odeon, G8, Euro Cinema, Derida Stage and Vlaykova in Sofia, Lucky House of Cinema in Plovdiv (South Central Bulgaria) and the Festival and Congress Centre in the Black Sea city of Varna will also mark the event. All film screenings will be free of charge.
